For over a decade, Stefanny Raines has worked with Hudson Community Enterprises (HCE) in several departments, servicing clients such as the NJ Judiciary, NJ MVC and Dealer Docs. Stefanny started at HCE ten years ago as a temp, but now primarily works in managing the Microfilm Department. This department carries out the concluding stages of the Electronic Content Management (ECM) process. The many years and multiple departments she has worked within showcase Steffany’s versatility and adaptability.

Stefanny’s role in the Microfilm Department involves converting paperwork from our ECM process into 16-millimeter film using machines called “Archive Writers.” This meticulous process requires attention to detail, as all work received must be accurately completed before it is transferred to film. The Microfilm Department also includes a dark room where film processing takes place. This dark room utilizes a machine called “Allen” that produces readable images from the silver-based film material.

Despite the many advancements in modern day photography technology, microfilm has remained relevant due to its immutable nature and longevity, as microfilm can last up to a century without risk of alteration. Stefanny emphasizes the significance of microfilm’s ability in preserving information compared to editable digital formats that are susceptible to manipulation.

Within HCE, Stefanny has undergone significant development leading to her acquired skills in machine repair and management. As someone who now oversees lab operations, Stefanny highlights the importance of communication, patience, and adaptability in ensuring smooth workflow and maintaining quality standards.

Despite the challenges and responsibilities, Stefanny expresses pleasure and enthusiasm for her position, and her dedication reflects a sense of belonging and fulfillment. HCE is thrilled she is part of the team.
